Under Wraps...

For years my sister and I have saved most of our old t-shirts from school events (Elementary, Middle School, & High School), church retreats, summer camps, college, choir/band, etc. The shirts have been saved in storage bins labeled "t-shirts for quilt" for a while now. While I was cleaning out my sister's bedroom closet back in September I came across her shirts and decided I would take on the challenge of making her t-shirt quilt and give it as a Christmas present! A challenge it became...I had an idea of what I wanted it to look like when it was finished so it was just a matter of producing that picture in my head. Easy right??!!??!! After 3 loads of t-shirts washed & dried I was able to create a plan. With a little help from my dad to help figure out exactly how big this quilt should be and trips to Hobby Lobby & JoAnn Fabric to look for a plastic stencil that was big enough to cut 16" squares (I had to make my own in the end)...I got started. When it came down to it unless the quilt was going to be on a King sized bed I was going to have to start choosing which shirts to include. In the end the quilt became double sided with shirts from many years and many memories of growing up. I hope this quilt will keep her warm physically and with memories for years to come. Now I need to get busy making MY quilt...better save that project for next year!

Pictures coming soon!

Scarves for every occasion...

A few months ago I got the bug to begin teaching myself to knit. Well, I took on the challenge and decided to start simple. I started kitting scarves of various colors just to pass some extra time (and it was very relaxing). After a while I had an abundance of scarves sitting around my house...it was getting closer to Christmas so I decided to publish pictures of them on my Facebook page and just see what type of interest others would have in them. Who would have thought I would have such a great response and be knitting additional scarves over and above what was already completed for friends to purchase? These scarves make great Christmas, birthday, or "Just for fun" gifts.

Here are a few pictures of the ones that I already made and sold...

Under Construction!!!!

Welcome to Red Rover Designs! A few years ago I saw a purse that I just had to have. It was rather pricey because it was handmade, but I decided I would splurge on myself. After purchasing the purse and looking at it closer I developed my own pattern to duplicate the style. I started making my own purses (variety of colors, patterns, sizes, and styles). When I was out people would ask where I bought my purse and I would tell them I made it! Time and time again people suggested I sell them...so I did and Red Rover Designs began to bloom. I made a few by special request (OU, OSU, baseball, western, etc) and others that were from the same fabric that I had made for myself or just liked when I was in the fabric stores. I really enjoyed making these purses and seeing them used by friends and family around town. Life got busy and I let this passion of mine slip to the side until recently...

I am hoping that this blog will help me get back to creating and sewing more and possibly selling a few items again. If you have special requests or suggestions for a project please let me know!
